Meet The Staff

Sarah Marris :  Owner of Pets in the City

Sarah first set up Pets in the City 9 years ago and has slowly built it up from a one women team to a small successful business catering for all doggy needs.

Growing up on the family farm in Lincolnshire has provided Sarah with a wealth of experience in handling and understanding both working and domestic dogs. Throughout her life she has lived, owned and worked with dogs and many animals in many different capacities including:- sledding with Huskies in the Alps, training as a Mahout (elephant handler) and working with elephant landmine victims in Northern Thailand, volunteer work in the Galapagos Islands, swimming with sharks (not in cages) and dolphins in Australia and hiking with dogs throughout England. After working as Director of Events for the Business Design Centre in Islington for over 12 years Sarah has combined her business skills and love of animals to create a high quality, organised and professional service. Sarah is now known as one of the most well respected, knowledgeable and reputable people in the business which is reflected in her long standing clientele.

Nick: Dog Walker

Nick joined our dog walking team after spending many years in IT and web development.  After realising something was missing from his life he has taken a break from the IT world to concentrate on caring for our canine friends, we are looking to take advantage of his limitless energy and devotion to the dogs in his care.

From army stock, Nick has lived with German Pointers all his life and is therefore very experienced in handling larger breeds he has however turned to jelly and also developed a soft spot for the smaller breeds we look after during his training period with us.  He's a big man with a soft heart.

Nick is a sports fanatic who still regularly plays for local football, rugby and cricket teams.  He loves the job of running these teams, taking particular pride in the thorough and perfect cleaning of dirty kit.

Nick lives in south London with his wife Phillippa and their cat Miss Moneypenny.

Michaela: Dog Walker

Michaela comes to us with a wealth of experience in dog care having grown up with dogs and looking after them throughout her childhood. Michaela  has spent over a decade working as a nanny in the USA, specifically for families with dogs, this experience has proved invaluable during her Pets in the City training period and she is loving the opportunity to take multiple dogs on walks instead of individuals.

Outside of work Michaela is a Tae Kwon Do expert and is pushing her ambitions to appear at the Rio Olympics in the colours of her native Czech Republic.

Ed: Dog Walker

Ed grew up in the country with Jack Russells and a load of other dog breeds as well as their horse, chicken and cow cousins.  After spending 15 years in various marketing jobs he has made a break from office work to get back to what he really loves: working in the outdoors with animals.

Outside of work Ed is a proper cricket fan and enjoys following all sports and still even plays some.  He's also a history buff who likes to try and show off his knowledge at pub quiz, whilst also enjoying traditional pub pursuits!

He now lives at home in London with his fiancee who is a former veterinary nurse now turned Practice Manager and their 3 cats, Sachin, Buzz and Dolly.

Julia Marris: Dog carer, Boarding in Lincolnshire

Julia is a trained horsewoman achieving her AI (Assistant Instructor) and I (Instructor) qualifications, she also trained with Rosemary Morris (one of the UK's leading horse instructors and international judge) and became an accomplished eventor in her own right participating in competitive Cross Country Trials.  Julia then re-trained as a chef working for At Home in Cobham for many years before opening her deli in Lincoln which she owned for over 15 years.

Julia has owned dogs all her life and is now a profesional dog handler and is a qualified groomer with her own grooming parlour.  She also boards dogs at her beautiful home for Pets in the City, where they enjoy a home from home environment and the warmth of the Aga in the winter and the beautiful grounds, gardens and walks in the surrounding countryside in all seasons.  Julia, lives with her husband John and daughter Sophie, two horses and some chickens, including 'Elvis' the cockrell and provides a very loving country retreat for all her doggie visitors who all adore her friendly, homely home and her own two Labradoodles, Honey and Izzy.  It's cuddles all round at this luxurious retreat but booking in advance is advised.

Jayne Robinson: Dog Carer taking care of our boarding dogs in Hampshire

She lives in a dog's paradise. Jayne's house in Hampshire has turned into another one of our country retreat for dogs, whether it’s to lounge around in the country or take part in a variety of activities; swimming in the lake, orienteering, hide and seek in the forest, wildlife spotting, and animal stalking are just a few that are readily on offer.
